Procedure
Preparation
Clean and degrease glass before applying Satin Easy. Use hot water, alcohol-based glass-cleaners or other degreasing products.
Etching
Apply Satin Easy with a brush just like common paint.
To etch a glass surface, remove the cream after 5 minutes.
A shorter period gives a less etched effect. A longer interval does not result in a deeper etching.
After etching
Satin Easy must be left in place for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, wash the glass using water.
Do not reuse the cream that has been in contact with water.
Result
Typical result is an equally and uniformly etched surface from a medium to a high opacity level.
To best check the uniformity of etching, look through the glass towards a bright source while moving it.
If the level of etching is not sufficient, this can depend on several causes:
- etching time too short;
- Satin Easy contaminated with water (never pour water into the cream and always dry the glass before etching).
Opacity must be regular without rings or stripes.
Rings may appear on the etched surface in case of insufficient cleaning or degreasing of the glass before etching.
Caution
Working temperature
Etching is a chemical reaction and it needs a minimum temperature of 23°C.
We recommend to store Satin Easy in a warm and dry place and not to use it on cold glasses.
Crystallization
Satin Easy can crystallize inside when stored for a long time in a cold place.
Do not use the crystallized cream as this may cause irregularities in the etching.
Crystals over the surface can be removed with a spoon. Crystals inside the cream, instead, meld spontaneously as soon as the can is stored in a warmer place for a few days.
Safety
The cream contains acids. Always use gloves and safety glasses.
In case of an accidental contact with the eyes, soak immediately with water and take counsel from your doctor.
